This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am an ESE (Special Education)/Reading teacher at a middle school in Miami. I teach and support students who have Emotional/Behavior Disorders and learning difficulties. My school is a Title I school, which means that about 99% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch due to their low socioeconomic status. The school is in a high poverty neighborhood so many of my students come from families that struggle financially. As a result, my students endure more problems than average children, and these problems interfere with and hinder their learning.
My Project
The classroom basics materials requested will be used to ensure that my students return to school with a clean start. I will provide them with mask, hand sanitizers, Kleenex and wipes. I want to to ensure that my students are prepared for the opening of school after the long break due to Covid 19. I know my students are ecstatic about returning to class.
I just want to make sure that their return is a clean and safe as possible.
We will wipe down the desk after each class session. Students will be given materials needed to stay safe and I will also use different aromas around the class that represents the seasons of the year so they can feel welcomed. I will use the batteries to make sure that we have ample amount to fuel up the air fresheners and the cart will be used to store the supplies. I know my students are ecstatic about returning to class. I just want to make sure that their return is a clean and safe as possible.
