My Students
I teach at a small middle school in a small school district. The district I teach in only has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The majority of the students live in poverty and are homeless. What I mean by homeless is that the parent(s) and the children are living with other relatives, because they do not have a home of their own. The middle school I teach at is a Title I school, which means that we receive funds from the government to get some of the resources that we need. In addition, the students all receive free lunch and breakfast every day.
My goal every day, is to make my classroom a safe, learning environment, so that my students work toward being successful scholars every day.
I try to make learning as engaging as I can, because I know that many students can be turned off from it because they feel school is boring. I teach my students that history happens every day and they are a part of it. I love seeing the expressions on their faces when they begin to discuss historical events.
My Project
We live in a world where germs are everywhere especially in the classroom. I witness my students on a regular basis getting sick because their peers at school came and spread their germs. To me, it is crucial that students are at school everyday in order to be successful at school and in life.
How can I help prevent the germs from attacking my students?
This project will supply my students with Kleenex tissues and hand sanitizer to help us stay germ free.
In addition, my students need to keep their energy up during the day, so a healthy snack would definitely do the trick. My students deserve to eat a "healthy" snack in a "clean" environment.
