This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) seeks to initiate a hygiene drive titled "Clean Hands, Clean Hearts."

The purpose of the "Clean Hands, Clean Hearts" hygiene drive is to gather necessary hygiene items to help support individuals and families in our community who may be facing financial hardships.

Hygiene is an essential component of overall health, and many individuals in underserved communities lack access to basic hygiene products. This drive will directly impact their ability to maintain personal hygiene, preventing the spread of illness and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Students will set up donation bins around the school campus, including in classrooms, the cafeteria, and common areas. Volunteers from NJHS will be assigned to monitor these stations and encourage students to donate items. The NJHS members will organize regular collection drives, including a special "Hygiene Week" where students will be encouraged to bring in hygiene products. During this week, NJHS will host announcements and presentations to educate the student body on the significance of hygiene and how they can make a difference through their donations.

Once the collection period ends, NJHS will coordinate with local shelters and social service agencies to distribute the collected items. NJHS members will assist with the packing and organizing of the hygiene kits. The kits will contain a selection of the most-needed hygiene items, with attention paid to the specific needs of the recipients, such as families with young children or individuals living in shelters.

We aim to foster a sense of responsibility, empathy, and community spirit in our NJHS members, school, and local neighborhood.
