This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. My students are all different types of learners and have various backgrounds. I have students who do not speak English, students with disabilities, and some students who are homeless.
I teach at a Title I school in New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive food and clothing from the school's charity drives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
As this new school year approaches, there will be many challenges. One of the challenges is that students will now have to eat lunch in their classroom.
I need these cleaning supplies to keep the classroom clean and free of germs when the students take off their masks to eat lunch in the classroom.
I also need the garbage bags to accommodate the increase in garbage that will be a result of the students eating in the classroom that our small garbage bin cannot support. The garbage bags and cleaning supplies in addition to preventing the spread of COVID will also prevent the spread of roaches in our classroom as uneaten food will be in a sealed bag, versus an open garbage container.
