Help me give my students a washing machine and dryer for a space to launder their clothing, if and when they need it, in order to support their coming to school regularly. Many children live in transitional housing and are title I.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of our students come to school each day with the desire to learn, grow, and succeed. However, for those living in temporary housing or unstable conditions, basic needs like access to clean clothing can be a significant barrier.
Without consistent laundry facilities, students may experience embarrassment, anxiety, or stigma that affects their mental health, attendance, and ability to focus in class.
By providing an on-site space for students to wash and dry their clothes, we can help eliminate the risk of bullying, reduce stress, and foster a more inclusive and supportive school environment—ultimately improving both attendance and student well-being.
