Little ones can be messy and a class of them can be even messier and it's difficult to keep the classroom clean. When spills happen, which they often do when students eat breakfast in the classroom everyday, it's difficult to clean them up while teaching and sometimes it can be some time before custodial can get to our classroom. By having an irobot mop we don't have to worry and instruction can happen while keeping the classroom clean. In addition students are expected to recycle food, plastic, and paper every day with breakfast. Sometimes the bags slip and we'll have yogurt or other food products all over the garbage can and the floor sometimes. This means that not only does the food bag need to be put out for morning pick up but the garbage cans need to be cleaned and we don't have cleaning supplies to clean them because mixed in with the yogurt is often granola and cereal and other food items that need to be scrubbed off the garbage can or they will stay like that for the day. The scrub mommy and storage for it will help with that as will the oxo scrub brushes with built in soap dispensing. Many times the paper towels don't do the job and it can take up to fifteen minutes to clean but the hope is with these cleaning supplies the cans can be cleaned in less than five minutes.
While having breakfast in the classroom is wonderful because it means all children are fed for little ones it also means that we need to clean up big food messes daily and having these cleaning supplies will allow more time for teaching and less time for cleaning.
