This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is unfortunate that I work at a school that is in the middle of a gentrified community. What makes it bad is that because we are a school who houses neighborhood students, we do not get the same respect as other schools in the area. One of the main issues is how we tend to have people from in the community trespass during and after school with their dogs, and they have allowed their dogs to run freely onto our playgrounds and football field. The worst thing is they do not have the decency to clean up after their pets. And when they do, they just throw the poop bags in, at, or near the trash can. Thus, the reason for this project.
I am asking for funding for this project, especially for the "No Dogs Allowed" signage, to keep people from the neighborhood from freely coming onto our campus and allowing their pets to destroy property that our students play on.
I and others are tired of witnessing people purposely destroying our campus because no one has confronted them about it. This project is not just a classroom project, but a schoolwide project. If we get this signage and these trash cans, people will respect that we have students who deserve to feel safe and clean like every other school.
