This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 31 of the most loving, caring, and brightest scholars! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorChoose comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
By having these cleaning supplies it will help the children gain independence in the classroom. They will able to grab the cleaning supplies when they need them to clean up their own messes and spills. By having these cleaning supplies, we will be able to keep our classroom clean and healthy.
Children focus more when their basic needs are met.
The children in my classroom cannot always afford to bring in snacks, or if they do, they are unhealthy snacks such as Little Debbie brownies, or chips. By funding this project, you will be offering the children healthy snacks to eat during the day, which will help their brains focus on their school work. These are proven snacks that will help them focus and won't give them a sugar rush in the middle of the school day.
