My Students

My students, in general, come from low-income, nontraditional homes in Onaway, MI where education is not always valued. However, our students come to school every day. Our average daily attendance is over 95%, and our students yearn for the structure and stable family atmosphere that our school offers them.

My students are proud of what they know and proud of where they come from, and they break the rules when it comes to traditionally impoverished students.

My students succeed at a higher level than the research says they should, and they are constantly looking for a challenge. This means that, as a teacher, I have to look for ways to challenge them and keep their interest in a quickly changing world.

My Project

Our school provides items such as tissues for student use, but the quality is less than desirable. Students come into my classroom from neighboring classrooms because I have "the good tissues," but my supply is running low. Additionally, Clorox wipes, sanitizer, and soap will help keep my students healthy by helping to provide clean desks and clean hands.

We know that a clean classroom is a healthy classroom.

These items will help to keep my classroom clean, and by extension, help keep my students healthy so they can continue to learn.
