Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"A place for everything and everything in it's place." Students need an organized work area to complete independent assignments in our Language Arts units.
My Fourth Grade students face many challenges in and out of school.
Most of the students at my school come from low income families and may not have basic school supplies available at home. I want to give them access to organizational skills that will help them become better learners
My Project
My students need items such as inkpads, privacy partitions and book bins for a clean and fresh learning environment to start the school year off right. What was your favorite activity in school? Ask my students and most will say it's Independent Work Time during Language Arts. It is their chance to be in charge of their own learning. Students are able to choose a culminating project for each unit, including a business unit called "Dollars and Sense" They are responsible for creating and presenting a business model that includes a project they can create and sell. It gives them the opportunity to transfer the knowledge and skills they learn during Language Arts to show understanding of the theme. They use research, writing and creative art skills for their projects. There is a designated area in the classroom where they can gather all the materials that they need. This area needs to be stocked with various materials such as paper, scissors, poster board, markers, etc. These materials need to be organized so they are accessible to students when needed.
A clean and organized classroom makes learning easier.
Students will feel ownership of their classroom and materials if they are responsible for keeping everything clean, neat and organized.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
