My Project
Each day, thousands of students miss school because they don't have access to clean clothes. This is a critical issue, as access to clean clothing helps students feel confident at school, allowing them to focus on what matters most: their education. Children living in poverty are less able to be prepared for school. Having clean clothing is but one part of that, but it is a significant part. With the impact clothing has on self-image standing out from the crowd in a negative way has a cascading effect on self-esteem and becomes a distraction that interferes with focus.
Being able to have a washer and dryer on site for students to bring in their uniforms to be cleaned can greatly impact their attendance.
Students will be able to bring in their school clothes Monday-Friday to be cleaned while they are at school.
We know that not every family is able to have a washer and dryer in their home and getting to the laundry mat on a weekly basics and having enough money can be difficult. It can be especially difficult for students and their families who don't have a stable place to live.
These items will be used to make sure that our students can always have clean clothes, miss less school and feel more confident about themselves.
