Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 15 students are bright, energetic, and enjoy coming to school. They are curious and excited about reading, math, science, social studies, and art. They live in an urban neighborhood and attend a Title I school. They are primarily Latinx and African American. The majority are second language learners.
My Project
My current classroom couch is taped together with electrical tape and the chairs are hard plastic. My students deserve to have durable but comfortable furniture that matches the decor of the classroom.
Having clean, comfy, flexible seating will enable my students to have more spaces beyond their desks to participate in Reader's and Writer's Workshop.
This new furniture will be perfect for my students to engage in Literature Circles, reading, writing, and other small group work. My students will now have a choice to sit at their desks, flex floor seats, or our comfy couch. Having flexible seating choices compliment the other choices they have in class.
