Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are one month into classes and my students are creating using hand building methods in clay. I am happy to say that class engagement in high and the students are doing great work. The hands on experience of creating with clay is enjoyable, creative, and give students the opportunity to incorporate other subject areas, cultures, and styles of art into their pieces. We are an urban high school which lacks the necessary materials and resources for our students to thrive.
My Project
The clay will ensure that students will be are able to continue learning hand building and wheel throwing skills throughout the school year. I am happy that my students are engaged and enthusiastic about working with clay and it would be discouraging to run out during the course of the class. My students are very productive and always exceed my expectations. We do many projects during the year related to world culture as well as exploring personal styles and interests. The gift of clay would ensure that my classes can continue to work and explore their creativity throughout the year.
