Clay for Kids!

My students need 10 boxes of clay and various ceramic glazes.

My Students

Our art classroom is lucky to have a potter's wheel but due to budget cuts, we have not been able to purchase the clay and glazes needed for students to use it. This has been many students' favorite school activities. It is an opportunity that most students would not be able to access otherwise.

My students are enthusiastic 5th and 6th graders.

They love art and fill up my after school art clubs. They creativity and inspiration is limitless and offering as many artistic avenues for them is my goal. The pottery wheel is by far their favorite and I would hate to tell them we cannot use it this year.

My Project

Being able to use the pottery wheel is an opportunity that many children need in order to honor their innate creative abilities. They simply do not get enough creative outlets and hands-on opportunities throughout the day. Their moments to express themselves before or after school on the pottery wheel may be enough to get a student to school or to get them through the day.

Students create meaningful experiences and memories while working on the pottery wheel.

Perseverance, confidence and skill are just a few of the character-building traits developed while working on the wheel.
