Classroom Warming for First Year Teacher in the Heights!
Help me give my students an epic and unforgettable learning experience! Along with pens, markers, and organizers, I hope to build a library filled with heroes that look just like my students in the heights!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are growing up in the heights where I was also born and raised. We have a shared bond, a shared commute, and a shared love of our neighborhood. Their parents remind me so much of my grandmothers, my aunts, my uncles, cousins, sisters, and brothers.
This year, I am honored to teach children who feel like familia.
My Project
Welcome to my classroom warming party! My goal is to cultivate a loving space where we can learn deeply by centering our stories, by singing, by laughing, and by learning how to be good humans! This fall, we’re using dry erase markers to create color-coded centers created around small group book clubs!
As a first year teacher, I’m excited about getting students excited about learning.
Based on a survey, our students will have a book tasting where they can select from a number of novels to read throughout the year. They will be able to choose from books that center our collective experiences, hopes, and dreams. Our goal, as a class, is to read over 1,000,000 words! I hope to use the items requested to create a book sanctuary where students fall in love with words. Our Book/literacy circles will be able to track their progress and grow together.
My hope is that this year will be an unforgettable learning experience for my students. With music, art, dancing, and holding space for them to freely express themselves, we’re going to fall in love with our shared journey. We’re going to fall in love with books that lift us up!
