Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Chemistry class is starting a classroom vegetable garden, and thanks to our donors, we are on a great start. However, we still need basics such as soil, a few more flower pots for the larger vegetable plants, and some watering bulbs to keep the plants watered over spring break. We also need a vacuum to clean up debris and keep our classroom tidy after working with the plants.
Gardening in our classroom will provide an experience beyond academic instruction; this experience provides Social-Emotional Learning, an aspect that, while essential in academia, is often neglected.
Through our vegetable garden, students can learn about the chemistry of gardening, environmental sciences, and biology while practicing self-care, as research shows that activities related to reducing stress decrease dopamine and serotonin levels.
Please help complete our project and start planting our garden.
