My Project
I am Social Studies teacher for a middle school spanning grades 6-8 in Brooklyn, New York.
Our students are diverse, resilient, strong, bright, and beautiful!
We are a Title I school, with the majority of our students coming from low-income households. Demographically, our students are minority-majority, with white students comprising only 1% of population. We are a safe, supportive and innovative learning community where students are inspired and valued.
As a teacher, I strive to provide a safe space for students to engage in both rigorous academic and social emotional learning. I want to transform the room so that it feels less institutional and more like a welcoming, relaxing student friendly space. I need your help to bring in safe, clean, and comfortable seating and rugs and to transform the room to an inviting and calming environment. If a student needs to have a quiet or different place to work the couch and rugs can help create that area for them.
With your help, we can create a welcoming space for them to decompress, share their feelings, and get prepared to take on their academic and social challenges.
