This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very dear to my heart. We are in a low-income high poverty school system which does not provide the opportunities for growth that many other districts provide. The diversity of our school is what makes it special. We have students from every background. We are an inner city school in Boston that lack the resources to allow the students to maximize their potential. We are creating a safe learning environment for them to become lifelong learners. We want to get more students off the couch and in the game.

My Project

Our project is all about attacking the obesity problem that we face in society. Our physical education class will be fitness oriented and goal based curriculum. Studies state that majority of the students that do not participate in phys ed are not confidant and are turned away by the competition of games. We will use the materials for station work. We will focus on building up every part of the body and also physical endurance. We asked for weights and resistance bands for physical strength training. We also want Pluto boxes to work on leg strength. The fitness aspect will provide multiple opportunities for students to choose the workouts that fit their body types. This will help them to develop lifelong fitness. That is the theme of the project. Students will form workouts for muscle strength, endurance, balance, etc.
