My Students
My students are more important to me now than ever before. The culture at our school is incredibly diverse and students have a multitude of needs. Students have been given technology resources from the school, but some still struggle with internet capabilities and other daily needs.
While our classroom has been disassembled physically, we are still trying to make the most of our virtual circumstances.
My students are incredibly resilient in these times and are really taking on this new challenge with great stride. I hope that I can continue to be their support, even though I cannot see them daily.
My Project
Our classroom uses a variety of techniques to get through our day. Each student uses technology, daily. From typing essays and making presentations to filming projects and editing videos. While some assignments can be done by simply typing with their Chromebooks, we use an iPad to film and edit projects.
The iPad in our classroom is from 2008 is no longer capable of updating or downloading new apps.
While working from home, I use the iPad to work remotely with my students. I use it for Zoom and to check the work they are turning in remotely. While I do have a laptop, using the iPad is much more flexible.
Next school year, I will take the iPad to my classroom so that we can use it for video shooting and editing. My students love making "commercials," and skits on the iPad and it has a much better platform for editing video. The AirPods will just make it easier for students to use the iPad with audio.
