My Students

What makes my students special? They have me for a teacher! This is my first year teaching and my students 6th year in school. My students come from a community that is in need. The school is the only place where I can address their needs and put them first. But meeting needs is not something I can do alone. It takes a village to raise a child, therefore it takes a community to help a classroom.

I believe that all children are capable of learning and deserve the tools to make learning possible.

At our school, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure student academic and social-emotional growth while providing equal educational opportunities in a safe and nurturing learning environment.

My Project

In the classroom, I see a daily need for many supplies. Since the middle of the year, some supplies are dwindling. Students are in need of folders to organize their daily work, as well as folders to take home the work showing progress to parents. We are also in need of clipboards for outside work and making observations while walking.

With our school having a focus in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics), integrating more technology is a priority.

The use of computers on a daily basis for different interventions has helped students progress in Math and English Language Arts. However, when numerous students are trying to listen to programs at the same time, it becomes confusing. Therefore, the headphones are a must for students to focus.

Lastly, personal whiteboards are essential for any classroom. One particular reason is because they are a quick and easy way for students to show their work during Math. I envision students working at their desks to solve problems on the front board, discussing their answers with their groups, then explaining how they got their answer to the class.
