I currently teach an amazing group of fifth graders ELA and Social Studies. Our class is multicultural and located in a Title I city school. Many of my students are from a low economic background and have experienced many hardships during the pandemic. This year has been full of challenges, but we remain positive and continue to push our ceiling for growth each and every day. Special education students are mainstreamed into the classroom.
For a child to be successful, they need the tools to do so.
Simple items like notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers and highlighters can give my students the ability to do the required classwork of taking notes and staying organized throughout the remainder of the school year. These supplies will be available for any student who needs them, as many of worn out their supplies from September. Due to covid we cannot share supplies so it is important that we are not passing them around. We will stay safe by having our own supplies. They need to write down key ideas in the notebooks so we are not using sheets of paper. Items like the anchor chart paper, will allow students to create their own teaching tools for in the class, as well as myself for them to reference during independent learning. The clear bags will keep our supplies safe and together when traveling from class to class throughout the afternoons.
So as our way midyear and state testing approaches we request these supplies to prepare and be the best we can be!
