Classroom Supplies to Help Students Love Coming to School!

My Students

My students are such kind and respectful people. I am always blown away by their good quality work, and their respect for their peers, teachers, community, and school. Our school believes in holding students accountable for their education. My reading class, in particular, has really grabbed ahold of this sentiment and has been working really hard to raise their reading level and their confidence in reading!

The eighth-graders at our school are preparing themselves to go to high school.

They work hard in their classes and take their education seriously. My students are amazing, and I feel very privileged to work with them.

COVID-19 has made students eager to be in the classroom! Many students come to school ready to learn after two years of virtual learning and frequent quarantines. Because of their readiness to learn and gaps in knowledge, I'm ready to meet students where they are and help them learn and grow.

My Project

I have created a project that balances practical needs for the classroom and things to make learning more fun. Some of the books in this project will go towards helping students develop a love of independent reading. The large sets of books will be used for our after school book club! This book club has really helped students connect to their life back at school and enjoy being there.

Coming back from the pandemic, students are really excited to be in the classroom.

I want to extend that excitement from being in the school to help them further develop their love of learning. We will use these supplies for many lessons, as well as for the after school activities, like book clubs. Recently, we hosted a book club where the students got to practice embroidery, like a character in the book. With these resources, we can keep doing book clubs and fun activities that get students talking about reading and loving being at school.

My plan for doing this includes having a classroom with plenty of supplies for any activity that may arise--including headphones, whiteboards, and pencils. Also, as a Language Arts teacher, one way I help kids get excited about my class is by providing a well-stocked classroom library full of books they'll love to read. All of these supplies will be used this year and the years to come to help students recover from COVID-19 learning loss, as well as enjoy learning and being in the classroom.
