This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I prepare for my second year teaching, I want to make sure I provide basic school supplies for students to utilize throughout the school year such as clip boards to be able to complete work anywhere in the classroom. Also, color coded folders to help students organize their classwork per language.

My goal for this project is to provide classroom supplies for students to help them stay organized and to provide better learning opportunities.

Our student population is about 620+. We are 75% Latinos, 10% Black, 10% White, and the remainder a mix of Asian, Filipino, Pacific Islander or two or more races. 92% of our families are socioeconomically disadvantaged and we struggle with 51% chronic absenteeism. Our students should all feel equal when it comes to the supplies and resources that are provided for them because they are all important and special.
