This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Next year, I will begin my first year teaching! I will have a class full of energetic, curious, and compassionate first-graders. Our school is located near Downtown Los Angeles, California. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am eager to provide my students with quality and equitable learning materials and opportunities. I look forward to promoting creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
Many of my students do not have access to school supplies. In order to promote a community of learners, it is important that I provide quality supplies to all my students without placing a burden on their hard working families. Students need pencils, markers, erasers, and clipboards in order to engage in learning. Additionally, my students will use whiteboards and arts to engage in collaboration and creative learning. Additionally, the leveled books will provide students with more opportunities to improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills. They will have the opportunity to take these books home and practice with their loved ones!
