This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, thoughtful kids. They are fun-loving, creative, and excited about learning. They live in an urban community with people from all around the world. They represent the cultural and linguistic diversity that makes our community special and bring a wide range of personalities and experiences to the classroom.

Many students are connecting and learning from home with limited access to technology while also grappling with other responsibilities in their lives.

We are still providing breakfast and lunch to students while schools are closed. I have 18 students learning English as a second language. As our school is closed for the rest of the school year due to COVID-19, we are faced with new challenges as we try to provide students with the resources they need to continue learning from home.

My Project

My incredible students work very hard every day, but it is difficult to succeed without supplies. Especially now that we are distance learning, many students do not have equitable access to school supplies. While many of them log in every day to Google Classroom to complete assignments online, there are students without a stable internet connection that still need to participate in learning.

These school supplies will help create an equitable classroom environment for all students.

My students have fantastic ideas and creative visions that I want them to be able to express with the items I am requesting, like paper, pencils, and pencil sharpeners. If there are materials left, once we return to school the supplies will get us off to a great start to make sure all students have the basic materials to be engaged in schoolwork and comfortable in our classroom environment.
