Classroom Social Emotional Wellbeing

My Students

My classroom is full of an amazing group of students who spent half or over half the school year online last year. My students are lucky to be at a school that values their growth and ensuring they become the leaders they are meant to be.

The students who become part of my classroom family are loved and deserve all of the best to help ensure they get the education they deserve.

We are a school that is in the heart of Las Vegas, and not the Las Vegas that many may think of. We are the Las Vegas that is full of families, loves their community, and values an education.

My Project

On top of the impacts of COVID-19 on my students, they are now being completely rearranged and being forced to start with a new class. Due to budget cuts, I was cut from my position at my previous school and will be starting fresh at a new school with a new group of students. The students that I will be starting with will be pulled from overfilled classes and assigned to my class. These resources will help me meet the Nevada health standards, by increasing their social emotional well being.

All of these resources will help me work with my students to meet Nevada health standards for fifth grade.

The books will help me read short stories to my class to help them learn the personal health standards (5)1.1, (5)1.3, (5)1.4, (5)1.6, Environmental/Consumer Health (5)7.1, (5)7.3.

The materials such as the classroom seating, bright papers, rug, and table will help create a more inviting classroom environment. This environment will help students feel more welcomed and enjoy coming to the classroom after a year online and a challenging start to their fifth grade year. This standard will help meet the Nevada personal health standards (5)1.1 and (5)1.2.

Finally, the writing materials such as notebooks, paper, erasers, and folders will help my students work on journaling and writing to get express their emotions in a healthy way. These materials will help meet the standards Personal Health (5)1.4 and the writing standard W.5.10.

I am hopeful that I can build an emotionally healthy classroom with my new students despite being transitioned mid year. These materials will help me ensure that they are emotionally mature to transition to middle school upon completion of this school year.
