My Students

I work with a small group of children who need creative, specialized instruction. They are the 5th-8th graders that I provide specialized instruction to every day. My students are working to self regulate their emotions and behaviors so they can experience success in school. They have a hard time functioning in large classrooms with many students so I work with them in smaller groups.

My classroom is filled with students who are working anywhere from a first grade level to an eighth grade level in math and reading.

I may have an eighth grader who is reading at a third grade level or a second grader working at a fifth grade level. Right now, they spend time in my special education classroom, but the goal is to get them out into the regular education setting. They work hard to reach that goal. I sometimes work with one student at a time, other times I teach to the whole group. The extra support that they get in the special education classroom helps them reach their goal. They are an awesome group of kids!

My Project

Because I work with different aged students with different academic levels, it is difficult to meet their needs at the same time. I teach in small groups so that I have time to work with each group every day. It can be difficult for the students who must work independently because they don't get extra support from me. Independent practice is necessary but can be hard for students.

With these hand2mind versatiles classroom sets of self-checking skills practice, my students can feel success while working on their own.

When I am finished teaching a lesson, the students can return to their desks and begin practicing on their own. They get instant feedback with the self-checking component. This type of system is also great because it is very interactive.
