My Students
A great school year is all about the details. I try to make the year in school as magical as possible, but my creativity can only get me so far. Help me make my classroom a more inviting, exciting experience for these kids. A classroom rug is something that will be used for years to come.
My school is the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) magnet for our county.
While our population represents students with a strong passion for inquiry and learning, the majority of them also come from families living in poverty. It is important for the students to experience learning in as many different ways as possible when they come to us. In my classroom, we are currently sitting on the old carpet that was installed when the school was built. I have found that the students benefit from being able to get away from their desks and move around some to stay focused.
My Project
With the classroom rug selected, the students will have a spot to read in during Literacy as well as a place to sit for lessons. It will also help them learn about the states of the USA!!! The students can have a place they feel comfortable reading and learning. Though the second graders are in a transitional stage of growing up, they still like "coming to the carpet" to learn.
This project is important because with all the cuts in education there is no money to purchase things like this for kids.
This will make my classroom a more inviting place for the students to feel safe and learn.
