My Project
Through my teaching experience, I have found that my first graders benefit from having read-aloud, social-emotional activities, and academic mini-lessons on a classroom rug.
I notice an increase in classroom engagement and participation and the transition from their seats to the rug is an added movement break needed for my youngsters.
My school has been temporarily closed and relocated due to mold. Although I am grateful to have a learning space for my students, the saying is true "There is no place like home." We lost the majority of our classroom supplies and materials including our classroom rug. Bringing back as much familiarity and comfort is my goal to make our 'classroom' feel like a home away from home.
This classroom rug will be used every day during our Morning Meeting, read-aloud, and classroom mini-lessons, during our academic centers, and as an additional learning space where students can cozy up with a book.
