Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is in desperate need of a restock of basic materials. After teaching for the past two years, a lot of materials are in a critical state. Lids to markers have gone missing, colored pencils have been lost to the void, and there aren't enough wipes left to clean the classic middle school grime. The materials I have requested will help students get a fresh start in my classroom this year instead of having to use supplies that are broken, dried out, or just unavailable to them right now. While it may seem silly to request things like colored pencils or a sharpener, the students I have can tell when they are missing out on things other students have the ability to use.
My students are incredibly special and important to me and are worth having access to the basic materials that make a classroom functional.
I would like to start the year with supplies that have not been used yet while still using what I have left from previous years. The items (markers, pencils, wipes and more) that are being requested are small yet powerful tools for students and will make a difference in how they value learning. When the tools they have available to them are new and usable, there is a noticeable difference in their drive to engage and complete assignments. When a classroom is clean and well stocked, students feel comfortable being there.
Please help me in starting the year off on the right foot. My students and I appreciate any time and thought given to our project!
