This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our school, we have a wonderful variety of learning styles, nationalities, and personalities. The one thing they all have in common is that they love learning and exploring.
The classroom environment and arrangement is very important.
A variety of materials are needed for the children to be able to carry out their visions. The classroom is always buzzing with activity and providing materials and support is the way to inspire our children to problem solve, role play, communicate, and develop the all important social emotional skills they will need as adults.
My Project
The students will have new toys to explore. Many of the toys in my classroom have broken over time from repeated use. This will replenish what I am missing.
The materials I have chosen to replace such as: dolls dress up clothes, telephones and blocks, are a source of cooperative play, a very important part of the early childhood experience.
It teaches children to problem solve together and to plan and execute play scenarios. This is a skill that later translates to more academic tasks. The blocks for block area help children with math and spatial concepts important for future math minds. I want to maintain all the toys in my room that stimulate higher order thinking skills.
