Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After teaching for 13 years, some of the things that make my classroom efficient and cozy have worn thin and need to be replaced.
My students took the initiative to put together a list of supplies that we need to replace or add to our classroom environment.
These items range from things we use every day, such as staplers, legal-sized paper for creative novel study guides, and power strips to keep their laptops going, to things that they feel make my room a place they enjoy--string lights! Because I teach a humanities and literature course, we do a lot of writing, research, and creative projects. These items will ensure that students can continue their study of literature effectively, while the string lights allow us to turn off the harsh fluorescent lights and work with natural light from windows supplemented by the softer string lights.
