This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It's a brand new school year! My scholars have made it almost half way through middle school and our collective aim to engage in adventures in learning through 7th grade. In order for our adventure to be a success we need a classroom that caters to our needs.
We've got our desk and chairs, but we really need a whiteboard and to help us take notes and share out what we learned with each other.
We have floor space but we need a rug and some flexible eating for those of us who focus and work better on our belly. We've got a small group area with few small group resources.
My Project
The easel and whiteboard are important for sharing information because our class only has a chalkboard located on an odd side of the room (one that has poor lighting). The easel will go in the small group area while the whiteboard hangs in the front of the room. The rug will serve not only as a meeting area but also as a space where scholars can engage in independent reading. We are scholars with special learning needs, so the Viggi seating and cushions will help us focus and do our best work. These materials will ensure our self-contained class has different areas in the room where they can comfortably engage in the instructional activities that take place.
