My Project
I will build a comfortable classroom reading corner so that my students can calm down and read there peacefully.
I need a nice triangle carpet which fit one corner of my classroom.
This way can save space of my classroom and collect kids to read together sometimes. I need some comfortable cushions so that kids can sit or lean on them to read. They will feel warm and safe. I need speakers with good quality. During kids reading, I can play beautiful music which can help kids calm down. This school year, more than half of my students are ELLS (English Language Learners). Some of them just relocated from other islands like Marshall island. They have been struggling to settle down in the new place. Two of them often tear because they feel homesick. They said, "I worry about my family and they are far from me." Their kind hearts to their families inspired me find a way to help them settle down. Our classroom is their second warm home. Reading is a good way to help them. Beside nice reading resources like carpet, throw pillows, and cushions, I will play children's' beautiful music for them. They will feel more peaceful and warmer. Good quality speakers are necessary. Also, I will provide them with some snacks to encourage them to read. Some kids appear that they don't like to sit down so I provide them with bouncy bands. Some of my colleagues told me that bouncy bands helped their active students a lot. All these supplies help not only ELLS, but the whole class.
In sum, I hope my students feel our classroom is their second home and they feel safe, peaceful, and comfortable.
