My Students
Do you remember the excitement of using your teacher's overhead projector to show what you know to the rest of the class? We'll be receiving a document camera and this projector will allow my students to be able to demonstrate their knowledge to their classmates onto the screen for all to see.
This is a new class for me, teaching 3rd grade for the first time in several years.
My new students come from a small, rural town, where it's not uncommon for parents to either attend the local college, or work at the local hospital. It is a community that has poverty and we're far from resources that more non-rural communities get to experience. Having a projector will help provide more cultural experiences that my student's might not always have access to.
My Project
With this projector, my students will be able to use their new document camera, that has also been donated, to demonstrate their knowledge to the rest of the class. It will allow me to capture the spontaneous, teachable moments as they occur, and we can project video on a screen which will make interviews of the many authors of book they read come to life before their eyes. This projector will be able to be connected to iPads too, that we have, which will allows students to take part in the many educational tools available to them.
This project is important because technology is all around us.
Getting this project funded will allow my students to benefit from not having to share the limited resources that our wing has to share. We can take advantage of the teachable moments as they occur, and have creative ways for my students to demonstrate their knowledge to their classmates.
