My students need copy paper, loose leaf paper, Spanish-English dictionaries, poster board paper and other basic school supplies for the second half of the school year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As you know, students need a variety of school supplies for school. Most of my students are not able to purchase these supplies and therefore have a difficult time completing ELA writing tasks. I have purchased many supplies for my students and classroom, but now I need help to buy class materials.
My sixth grade students attend a public school that is located in the poorest congressional district in New York.
Most of them come to school without supplies and teachers have to supplement what these students need from out of pocket. My students are hard workers and come to school with a willingness to learn, despite their circumstances.
My Project
I need poster board papers to help students create posters for an ELA Unit "Juvenile Justice". Students will use the poster boards to create pamphlets/posters as a public service awareness activity at school to deter other students from committing juvenile crimes. Due to the fact that every student must complete technology goals in all subjects, I need copy paper for them to print their typed published work. Spanish-English dictionaries are need to support my ELL students, most of who are emergent readers. All written work must be completed using the writing process, therefore loose leaf paper is needed to help students to complete their written work.
This project is import because due to budget cuts and the fact that most of my students cannot afford these supplies, I need help to supplement what they need in order to be successful learners.
These supplies for my classroom will enhance the learning of all students. We appreciate the little things that we can get.
