I teach at Burgaw Elementary School, which is located in the rural city of Burgaw, NC in Pender County. We are a Title One school with over 86% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am currently teaching the first grade. I teach all of the first grade English as a Second Language (ESL) children.
I purchased each student a handheld pencil sharpener at the beginning of the year and all have either been broken or lost.
I am seeking funding for a class pencil sharpener. We are in great need of a pencil sharpener that will work. I have purchased many in the past and they have all broken. Our school does not provide them for us and it is so hard for our children to write without one. We are only allotted $200 in instructional supplies each year, and purchasing a pencil sharpener that is worthwhile would take up a large part of my allotment.
By providing funding for this electric pencil sharpener, you would truly make a world of difference in my classroom. You would make it possible for them to be actively engaged in writing. We would truly appreciate it any donation. Thank you and have a blessed day.
