Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a curious and talented group of kindergarteners. Most of the students receive a free or reduced-price lunch and come from low-income neighborhoods. I always try to make our classroom an oasis, a happy and peaceful place that fosters learning and exploration.
It is important for me to provide my students with all of the resources they might not have otherwise since school is often the stepping stone to break the cycle of poverty in families.
I am passionate about what I do and seeing my students learning and growing justifies all of the hard work that I do.
My Project
I am starting out in a new district this year and I inherited an empty classroom. Though my students are not all in the class yet, I want to make sure that it is ready for them when they arrive! I am hoping to organize our supplies into bins for each child so they can have learning materials without the risk of spreading germs. I am also hoping to create take-home book baggies for each kiddo to bring books to and from school.
It is important to me that my students still get a classic kindergarten experience - full of hands on learning.
I am hoping this will help me create a safe way to do this while we are still experiencing Covid.
