This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the bilingual teacher for my grade level, my classroom is diversely made up of students with various English language proficiencies. I have some English language learners in my classroom as well as some newcomers who have not yet learned English at all. It is really difficult to find Spanish materials for my newcomer students that don't compromise the integrity of the text that we are studying in English.
This is why I am asking for this project to fund some Spanish copies of the three main novels we will read and study as a whole class this year: Charlotte's Web"(La telarana de Carlota), James and the Giant Peach (James y el Melocoton Gigante), and finally, "Because of Winn Dixie" (Gracias a Winn Dixie).
The snacks listed are to give students a "pick me up" to succeed during read class and avoid the hunger slump that greatly affects our learning.
