My Students
My students are attending an urban high school and travel as far as 5 minutes to an hour to attend. My population of students is diverse. I teach the 10th grade Global (world history) course as well as the Advance placement United States History course. My students abilities range from a third grade reading level to a college reading level. My students sometimes are not able to afford the basic school supplies and I am always spending money out of my own pocket to provide those for them.
My Project
Our schools model focuses on students gaining knowledge without direct access to textbooks. Our students need to work with primary and secondary sources to gain the required materials for their success in Global history. The printer and paper will allow students to have their own copies of resources and makes the classroom more student driven, instead of having everything on the PowerPoint presentation. Students would be able to annotate the sources that makes them have ownership over the material. Everyday in Global history and AP United States history we are working with primary and secondary sources that allows to students to learn history on a first hand basis.
