Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students are in dire need for equipment to help with their writing.
Our classroom is an ICT (integrated co-teaching) classroom.
The student roster includes 60% general education students and 40% special education students. Disabilities in our classroom vary. Some of our students have learning disabilities, speech, emotional, and physical challenges.
My Project
A significant percentage of our students lack the stamina and fine motor skills to write the amount expected in the 4th grade. They enjoy telling stories but when having to physically write, the joy and excitement becomes a frustrating and challenging task. We have laptops available in the classroom but lack the printing capability.
I have requested a printer for our classroom so these students will be able print and present their work. I am also asking for additional printer cartridges, since many students will be printing their work. I am also requesting other materials, such as a laser pointer that will be used during shared reading and when using students' work on an overhead and, finally, a shredder that we can use for confidentiality reasons.
By having these materials, writing will become less stressful.
Students will be able to write and present their work. They will enjoy writing once again and will not be frustrated by the labor of writing.
