My Students
The students I teach are between 9th and 12th grade. The students in my class have a clinical diagnosis of severe emotional disturbance. They are in a single classroom all day because they have a hard time interacting with peers and adults.
I am entering my 8th year as an ED teacher, and my students are the most inspirational students I know.
They all have hardships at home. Their lives are filled with poverty, drugs, gangs, and other difficulties. Our school is a career tech high school, and all of our students are being educated to be career and college-ready.
My students need someone on their side. In our class, we have created that space for our students. Now that they feel comfortable with us, we want to give them the same opportunities as their peers. We believe in them.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of supplies for our classroom. As I continue to improve as an educator, I am currently working on the area of classroom management. I have included items such as posters, a desk laminator, a hot glue gun and a doorbell. These items will allow me to create a more effective class as we transition. I have also included sticks as rewards for when the students are on task.
Donating to this project will improve student attention and help to increase student achievement.
Students are still learning how to be in a typically classroom again. With the chance to model and correct classroom behavior I truly believe that these items are a Classroom Necessity.
