Help me give my students a clean and fun environment to work in. We will use the cleaning supplies to clean up after our group projects. Our capes will be used to help become super readers!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The children who walk through our school's doors each day are not just students; they are super readers, powerful writers and mathematicians in the making. I work in the Bronx area. We have been open for seven years. We are a small schools that doesn’t have much funding. The majority of our families live below the poverty line, are immigrants, with their own difficult situations and obstacles to over come. That, however, doesn’t change the fact that our new neighborhood school isn’t just a school.
It’s a community where we help each other instill good citizen behaviors in our students and give them a love for learning.
Teachers give up time, stay late and provide parents with workshops in literacy to make reading fun for children. We are always there for our families and students. We have high expectations for them. We want our students to learn in a fun, positive and exciting environment. We want our school to be a place where you want to be, not have to be. My students are eager to learn and succeed. I hope to keep that love for learning growing inside my students.
My Project
These materials will help my students learn and create an organized classroom. The pocket charts will assist in organizing topics for each grade; kindergarten through fifth. The pocket chart with four columns will allow my students to play sorting games with vocabulary words and concepts taught. The superhero capes will motivate my students to want to read in English and become a “super reader”. The chart paper and pencils will help my students make their thinking visual. The lamination paper will allow me to protect learning/strategy charts and give me the ability to sanitize the materials for the next group of children to use. Last the paper towels and wipes will make sure my students are learning in a clean environment.
