This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from differing backgrounds, but all of them bring unique personalities to our community of learners. My students come from low-income/high-poverty homes, and with that comes different challenges. As their teacher, it is my duty to provide the safest and warmest environment for them to have their best opportunities for learning. My students need me to be more than just their teacher. Sometimes I'm a nurse, counselor, friend, mom, or superhero, and with that, I strive to help my students in any way possible.

My Project

In this project I have included a variety of snacks and winter clothing items. All students are given free breakfast, but whenever students are late they are not given breakfast. Therefore I would like to have options available in my classroom to provide them with some sort of food to start their day. As we know if our brains aren't food with nutritious food then they're not going to work as well. I want to make sure all my students are given an equal playing field in the morning.

Many of my students do not have the correct winter attire and I again want to make sure they have everything they need as its starting to get colder.

My students need the opportunity to go outside and learn and play as much as possible, but I don't want any of my students to be uncomfortable. Therefore I'm asking for your help to give my students the basic necessities of food and warmth.
