This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager leaners! Many of them are reading and doing math below grade level, but they are hard workers and try their best each and every day. Our classroom has a growth mindset in which we believe in each individuals abilities and their ability to learn.
My students come from a diverse families in the attractions area of Orlando, FL.
Many families are in transition and students often arrive at school without the necessary supplies; however, it is their eagerness to learn and grow which drives our classroom community.
My Project
We spend a great deal of time in our "meeting place" each day. Currently, students are sitting on the linoleum floor, which can be uncomfortable. This beautiful rug will add color to the classroom while providing students a comfortable place to sit during Daily 5 lessons and number talks. The rug will also help us sit next to partners (with each student having his or her own block as a spot) to discuss our learning.
With this rug, students will have a cozy and comfortable meeting place to complete meaningful learning activities.
They will each have their own spot to call their own and will be able to turn and talk to a partner about their ideas and learning.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
