My Students
This is my first year teaching in my own classroom. After six years in one district, I am heading to a new one. I don't know my students yet, but I know that they deserve a safe and special environment.
Students learn best when they feel they are loved and respected in a community.
I want my classroom to be that community. My 15 upcoming third graders will be nervous about their new year, and I want to do my best to welcome them with open (socially distant) arms.
My Project
My classroom currently has plenty of books and not enough places to keep them! Books are separated into different genre's and reading levels, helping students locate books that are just right for them.
Sorting bins help keep books separate which is especially important right now when students can't share materials safety.
The carpet squares will help students find seats in our circle that are an appropriate and safe distance from one another- and will teach them words in Spanish as well! This gives students another seating choice in the classroom.
