it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A teacher's main goal in life is to make a significant difference in their students' lives by guiding them to the successful road we call life. As a new teacher I want to have that impact on my students' education.
I am a teacher in a kindergarten 6:1:1 class.
I have 5 lovely students who are Autistic. For those who take the time to know them, they are incredibly bright and have so much to offer. I am here to provide these students with the proper education. They are an amazing group of children and truly enjoy coming to school each day. Unfortunately, they primarily come from low socioeconomic homes with minimal parent involvement. Most of my students require visuals to communicate and to follow our daily schedule. My students display difficulty with sequencing and motor planning including communication deficits. I love to create centers and activities that focus on our weekly reading and language arts skills, but the cost of printer ink and laminating materials adds up very quickly! Each of these materials will really benefit my students and allow them to learn to their fullest capabilities.
My Project
The materials I have requested will help my students work on their reading skills in a variety of ways. Being students with Autism, anything that is visual is a great way for them to learn. They also have fine motor difficulty. With all of these materials being hands on, my students will be able to work on learning academics and fine motor skills at the same time. The color ink will provide me with the opportunity to print pictures and adaptive books in color. I will use the laminating pouches to laminate the pictures printed in color to create different activities for my students such as file folders, matching games and task boxes. Each of the activities created will be reused daily and geared towards their IEP goals. For the non-verbal students in my class I will create commination books using colored laminated pictures, in which the student will use those pictures to communicate with others.
Please help to create a vibrant learning environment for these young children with autism.
Being children from a large city, many of my students don't have the exposure to learning materials and resources outside of school to promote growth and development. Having these materials helps to give each and every child an opportunity to learn as much as they can while giving them a safe and encouraging environment in which to learn.
