My Students

Imagine never having your identity represented in your school's curriculum. Imagine being from an incredibly rich, vibrant and diverse community.

This fall, I will continue my work as an English teacher at a community cooperative charter school in Richmond, California.

Richmond is the lowest performing large school district in California. I have the privilege of teaching bright and capable students, many of whom are English language learners. My students will be able to effectively write, read, and articulate their ideas, not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom and within their communities as well.

My Project

These materials will aid me in two major areas in my classroom. 1)Organizational structures and 2)books. The two books that I am fundraising for are books that both engaged my students in my classroom, and heightened their love of learning. Due to such, along with the increase in the number of my students, I am fundraising to receive more texts for those students.

It is imperative that my students feel like they are in an organized classroom with all of the materials they need in order to be successful learners.

The materials I am fundraising for range from highlighters to hand in bins and trash cans. All of which will help make my classroom a more organized, and in turn, a more safe space for my students.
