This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For this project, I am asking for new tools and materials to support my students' learning environment better. I currently teach in a Mild/Moderate Special Day Preschool Class with students who are 4 & 5 years old and qualify for special education services. Most of what we do in the classroom daily is very hands-on, whether structured play centers, art activities, or sensory activities such as kinetic sand and Play-Doh.
Hands-on activities are essential for my specific population of students because each student learns differently, whether visually, auditory, or tactile.
The only downfall is that those types of activities require a lot of materials and manipulatives to be successful, and most of those are not provided by the school district. It becomes up to the teacher to provide these essential resources for their classrooms. This boost from Quill is extremely helpful in supplying classrooms with the materials and manipulatives they need to support students better.
I am requesting a color printer for my classroom to print visuals and materials to make them more visually appealing and motivating for my students. I am also asking for different materials, such as colored card stock, Sharpie markers, and borders, to support hands-on crafts and activities in the classroom.
