Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an inner-city school that serves a Latinx and Black student population. The majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Our classroom supports a range of talented students including English learners and students with exceptionalities.
Our students live in an underserved part of our city and are a diverse group of learners.
They come to school to learn and participate even when the harmful choices and the inaction of our elected officials create extra hurdles to their success.
My Project
This project includes supplies to promote safety, well-being, and student learning.
Masks help keep students safe.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for me to see a student outside my door holding a broken mask to their face. The masks and hand sanitizer in this project will help protect students from COVID-19.
The other materials in this project will help me keep my classroom stocked with the necessary material to promote learning. Having a stock of pencils is handy for students that may need one. Tissues help us with snivels that cold weather brings.
